Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains in 3 Days
A short itinerary that combines the rhythms of Marrakech with a day in the Oureka Valley and a third day among the villages of the High Atlas in Imlil.
About the Trip
This itinerary is ideal for first-time visitors to Marrakech who want to experience the mountains without a long trip between cities. It begins with the Old City and the souks, then moves on to the Oureka Valley, and ends with a more peaceful day in Imlil and its surroundings.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Each day is listed with its main stop and the itinerary for the trip.
Old Marrakech
Start your day by exploring the heart of Marrakech on foot: the alleys, the markets, and Jemaa el-Fna Square, then set aside some time to visit a historic landmark such as the Bahia Palace or the Ben Youssef Madrasa. End your day in the Old City without any additional plans.
Oreka Valley
Leave Marrakech in the morning and head toward the Oureka Valley. Spend the day enjoying nature, mountain villages, and peaceful stops near the valley. Depending on the weather and your fitness level, you can add a short hike near Setti Fatma.
Imlil and the Mountain Villages
Set aside the third day for Imlil and the surrounding area. Choose an easy walking route through the villages instead of attempting a strenuous mountain hike, and enjoy a local meal before returning home or staying overnight, depending on your next plans.
