Imperial Cities in 7 Days
A seven-day trip that gradually takes you from Casablanca and Rabat to Meknes and Fez before concluding in Marrakesh.
About the Trip
A classic itinerary for those who want to visit Morocco’s major historic cities in a single trip. More time has been allocated to Fes and Marrakesh, as each requires at least a full day to explore the old city.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Each day is listed with its main stop and the itinerary for the trip.
Arrival and Casablanca
Start in Casablanca with a main stop at the Hassan II Mosque, followed by a short tour of downtown. Don't pack too much into the day, as the itinerary will take you through several cities.
Rabat and Oudaya
Travel to Rabat in the morning. Spend some time exploring the Kasbah of the Oudaya, the Hassan Tower, and the area around the historic center, then enjoy a comfortable night’s stay before heading to Meknes.
Meknes and Oulili
Explore Meknes, then visit the archaeological site of Volubilis in the afternoon. Afterward, continue on to Fez or stay overnight at a nearby location, depending on your schedule.
Fes el-Bali
Set aside a full day for Fez el-Bali. Focus on the markets, crafts, and historic schools, and don't add another city to your itinerary for that same day.
Fez II, then the trip
Spend the morning catching up on what you missed in Fez, then head to Marrakesh in the way that best suits your budget and schedule. Set aside the evening to rest after you arrive.
Old Marrakech
A full day in Marrakech: the markets, historical landmarks, alleys, and Jemaa el-Fna Square. It’s best to split the day between the morning and the afternoon, with a break in between.
Marrakech at a Leisurely Pace
The last day is flexible: a park, a museum, a Moroccan hammam, or more time at the markets, then getting ready to leave without any pressure.
